Prince , Here is the bio statement for Joerg peace Janet Joerg Fraske in OCTOBER on ART AT SCAT and SCAT Gallery October's guest artist on ART AT SCAT and exhibiting artist in the SCAT Gallery is Joerg (pronounced George) Fraske. Joerg Fraske didn't start out to be an artist. As a child he liked to draw, but he didn't see his ability to draw as a skill or anything special. During his teen years he drew secretly, because his friends and peers thought it was 'uncool'. Joerg admitted that he didn't acquire his first set of paints until he was thirty; it was a gift from a friend. Four years later he applied and was accepted at Mass Art. It was here, at Mass Art, that Joerg found himself 'seduced by painting.' He graduated with a Bachelor's of Art and just stopped painting. Joerg eventually returned to painting, and this time he rented studio space at Vernon Studios in Somerville. He described the body of work he intially produced at this time as representational art. He found himself struggling to reproduce detailed landscapes as they appeared. His struggle led him to experiment with abstract painting. He found the minimalism of abstract painting freeing and the palette energizing. This energy and spirit has been captured in his ever growing body of abstract landscapes paintings. By 2007, Joerg had become a self supporting artist. His work has appeared in numerous galleries and in corporate collections. Joerg Fraske's landscapes will be on exhibit in the SCAT Gallery for the month of October. Janet Cormier's interview with Joerg interview with can be seen on ART AT SCAT on Tuesday evening at 7 PM on Channel 3 for Somerville residents.
